I felt quite exasperated when I heard the news yesterday. And that exasperation soon turned into fear: what would happen now? As an artist, that fear was founded on the fact that restrictions in society meant that the arts would not be able to 'proceed as normal', and that affects our living. As an educator, it got me thinking about the possibility that classes would move online again - it's nearer to the national examinations this time: how would the kids be affected?
I guess many of us would have similar worries about how life would be like for us because of this 'return to phase 2'. I saw a meme circulating on facebook that has a boxer with his opponent on the ground, though the next picture shows that opponent sitting up again. Is the fight really not over? Are we going to go back to the dreaded days of lockdown?
What I believe is we have grown as human beings. Over this one year, we surely have gained some experience and learnings, and that's something to be proud of. My words of encouragement for today would be:
"Hey! You're not the same person you were last year! And that means you have resources NOW that you didn't have before! What can you do differently this time?"
Start thinking about this, will you not? And sign up above (as a member of the site) to receive updates on my periodical musings on this Back2Phase2 phenomenon in Singapore. Let's continue to encourage each other as we soldier on, shall we?
